The focus of the BiG lab is on the development and application of Bioinformatics and Genomics to vision research. We are affiliated with multiple entities across campus engaged in vision research and bioinformatics, including the Stephen A. Wynn Institute for Vision Research, the Carver Family Center for Macular Degeneration, the Iowa Glaucoma Center, the William J. Kimberling Usher Laboratory, the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
We've are pleased to announce that, as part of a collaborative team, we have identified the gene and mutations responsible for the inherited macular disease known as North Carolina Macular Dystrophy (NCMD).
